National League Mid-Season Recap

After featuring the American League, today’s blog will be featuring the National League. Remember the National League is much weaker and these awards are solely based on if the season ended today. So here goes nothing. Catcher – Brian McCann, Atlanta Braves As if hitting .308 and slugging .513 weren’t enough, he’s doing it in 20 less games then the other catchers because he started the season injured! The Braves might be awful, but Braves fans still have something to root for in McCann. He can hit for power and average, and is a decent enough defensive catcher to get by. First Base – Albert Pujols, St. Louis Cardinals Leading in two of the three Triple Crown categories, “The Machine” is absolutely insane this year. His 30 homers and 77 RBI are...MLB mid-season awards

With the MLB All-Star Break readily approaching, it’s time to give out my mid-season awards. Today I will feature the American League, and based on if the season ended today, give out my awards for best player per position. Catcher – Joe Mauer, Minnesota Twins Joe is hitting .394, leading all catchers in baseball who have at least 100 at bats. Despite missing the first month of the season with injury, he’s still a premier catcher in the AL, and a major part of the Twins offense. First Base – Mark Teixeira, New York Yankees Tex is by far the best defensive first basemen in the AL, and his 20 homers are second to Carlos Pena of the Rays. He’s slugging .576 and his 58 RBI lead all AL First Basemen. He is a major spark defensively and offensively with the...
