Goodbye Giggles

On early Saturday morning we are losing a prominent figurehead of the Central Florida Future. One who represents the true heart and soul of the Future and the prime example of what any Editor-in-Chief hopes his/her editors wish to be like. Brian Murphy, our former sports editor, is moving back to his hometown of Los Angeles and leaving behind many, many sad friends. Despite having already graduated and done his time at the Future, he always comes in and helps out on production days – even if his excessive, loud giggles often disrupt an already loud newsroom. But that’s why we love him. He comes, reads sports copy and constantly pretends to forget my name. But don’t worry, I’ve deemed him “Giggles,” since the man can’t finish a single sentence...

One of my least favorite things to do is write a column. I love voicing my opinions and talking about important issues going on in the world with my friends who are close to me, but if I had it my way, I probably wouldn’t voice my opinions for the rest of the world’s scrutiny. The funny part is, the negative comments are not the hardest ones to take. There are always people with varying opinions and even though some people express their views in somewhat harsh and critical ways, that’s the beauty of being an American and having free speech. We can say whatever we want.
