Spring Break Tips
02/29/12 16:56 PM
Spring Break Tips: • Use sunscreen. Wherever you go on spring break, make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen. If you get sunburned the first day, your entire break will be ruined. Acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin and hydrocortisone cream help relieve the pain and inflammation, along with Aloe vera lotion or gel. • Be careful when drinking in the sun. The sun can increase the effects of alcohol and also increase dehydration. Be sure to keep yourself hydrated. • Make sure you know the laws about drinking on the beach wherever you go. Some places allow it, and some places don’t. • Watch out for traffic when leaving bars or clubs. There may be a lot of commotion and even possibly drunk or drugged-up drivers. • If you’re at the beach...First Taste: Bud Light Platinum and Guinness Black Lager

Bud Light Platinum I’ve wanted to try Bud Light Platinum since it came out so I decided to go to the store and give it a try. As I was leaving the cashier asked me, “Have you tried that yet?” to which I replied no. She then said “It’s good, but watch out because it’s stronger.” This intrigued me even more. When I got home, I noticed the bottles of Bud Light Platinum right away. It comes in a unique blue bottle with a silver bottle cap. I thought the bottle looked pretty cool. The 6 percent alcohol by volume is plastered all over the case the bottles came in and is also seen on the neck of the bottle. It seems like Anheuser-Busch really wanted to advertise that aspect of the beer. Now, it was time to try it. After tasting Bud Light...Scoop…what can I say?

Last Friday night I was at my apartment with some friends just hanging out. We were all ready to go out somewhere but we had no idea where we wanted to go. A friend of mine called his friends and he said they were going to Scoop. Normally I wouldn’t go to Scoop since I don’t enjoy that kind of a scene or atmosphere but I thought, “Everyone’s going, so I might as well join.” I haven’t been to Scoop since it reopened. I imagined it was going to be just like Deko and it was… just a lot smaller. I don’t know why I ever agree to go to these college bars. I never have a good time and it’s just grimy, which is the same I can say for Scoop. For some reason everything is wet and...Oblivion

Driving down Colonial you wouldn’t expect to find anything enticing. It’s just a street littered with sketchy mom and pop stores and businesses. There is a little diamond in the rough on Colonial though. A little bar and restaurant called Oblivion Taproom. I was a little intimidated by the place when I visited their website. They label themselves as a “badass bar and grill.” There are pictures of skeletons and their logo is a cartoon skull and cross bones. I didn’t know if I was going to fit in to this place or what to expect but I was invited by a friend so I decided to go, plus I’ve been looking for newer places to go to since I’ve been tired of the UCF area bars for about two years...
