It's a celebration
7/16/09 5:44 PM
As part of a continued self-promotion effort, I am letting you all know about a party happening tonight.
At 7 p.m. at the Knight Library, located across from the University near the McDonald's, there will be a release party for EA Sports NCAA Football 10.
You can try out the game, enjoy food and drink specials and perhaps win some giveaways.
As an extra bonus, several of the Future staff members will be there, including myself. So come on out and enjoy the fun, and give me grief if you think I suck. I can deal with it.
Hope to see you there.
What delay?

I had written a whole long piece, Pulitzer prize winning fare, I promise, but College Publisher decided to not save it and instead ask me to log in again. Can you see me, College Publisher? This is me shaking my fist at you. ANYWAY, updates have been sparse here, but that is neither here nor there. For more on why it's been a while, read what our boss wrote over here. She has it down. Since we last spoke, former UCF great Jermaine Taylor was selected in the NBA Draft, which was nice. He went to the Washington Wizards with the second pick in the second round. The Wizards promptly traded his rights to Houston, which has had a pretty interesting offseason so far. Yao is out for who knows how long, Ron Artest bolted for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Rockets responded by nabbing...Cromwell hitting national stage, again

First off, yes it is Wednesday, which means that, at the least, this blog is officially two days late. I wish I had an excuse but I don't. So I want to take this opportunity to apologize to all seven of you for not getting this up on time. I cry your pardon. ANYWAY, the whole reason I am updating this time around is because UCF Athletics moved a release on Friday about women's soccer head coach Amanda Cromwell taking part in the Under-19 South Regional Team as an assistant coach. According to the release, Cromwell and the team will meet in Austin, Texas, on June 29 for three days of training and practice before they take on the Under-20 Mexican National Team on July 2. It's not Cromwell's first foray into the world of national soccer. She has worked with the Under-14 Girls' National...Where will JT end up?

I wrote a mock draft for our print side a couple days ago, and I only looked at the first round. That means that I didn't touch on where former UCF star Jermaine Taylor would end up. We have a couple stories coming up that are planned to look more at JT and his draft status and what it means for UCF. But for now, I am going look at what are the likely places he could go. By the time the NBA Draft rolls around Thursday, Taylor will have worked out for myriad teams, some with multiple picks, some with high second-round picks and one with no picks. DraftExpress is again the place to go for some great analysis of draft, from position-by-position breakdowns to player rankings, and once again I used their database of info for this. As an aside, for a pretty interesting...UCF almost in the MLB

By now, most of you already know three Knights were picked in the MLB First-Year Player Draft last week. Juniors Austin Hudson and Shane Brown and senior Chadd Hartman were all selected in the latter rounds of the draft: Hudson by the Seattle Mariners, Hartman by the San Diego Padres and Brown by the New York Yankees. As a senior, Hartman is, obviously, gone. But there are still questions as to whether Brown or Hudson or both will return for their final year of eligibility. Without having actually spoken to them, it is hard to intimate what they are going to do, but I can venture a guess. I would be surprised if Hudson returns, for a couple of reasons. Hudson has often gotten rave reviews. When he is on, he can be untouchable, because he can have such good movement on his pitches. ...
