Frances Millican, former UCF first lady, dies after fall

Frances Hilliard Millican, the wife of UCF's first president, Charles Millican, died Monday after a fall at her home. She was 82.

Charles Millican, 93, is in stable condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center where the couple was taken after they both suffered injuries in their home on Dec. 26.

The couple came to Orlando in 1965 when the Florida Legislature chose Charles Millican to be the president of a new state university. Then called Florida Technological University, it is now known as UCF.

Frances Millican was UCF's first lady from then until her husband retired as president in 1978.

She had a reputation for having a hand in philanthropy at UCF and regularly attended university events.

The couple met at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. They had been married for 64 years.

Frances Millican was a founding member of the UCF Women's Club and UCF Town and Gown Council. She was also a member of College Park Baptist Church and the Country Club of Orlando.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
