The UCF organic garden's one-year birthday bash has been postponed due to cold weather and rain.
Weather conditions must be prime for planting, said Tina Richards, program coordinator for the UCF Arboretum, the organization behind the event. She did not want volunteers and employees to have to work out in low temperatures.
The event has been rescheduled for February 19.
"We start gardening at 10 a.m.," Richards said. "12 p.m., we will have the vegan cake competition, and we will be gardening all the way till 4 p.m."
Richards encouraged students to gather friends and classmates and to come out Friday for the celebration. She said the event will be fun and will give participants the chance to gain experience in gardening while meeting new friends.
"It's a just a positive place, so we encourage you to come out and enjoy the outdoors when it is nicer weather," Richards said.
The organic garden is located behind the UCF Arboretum building.
