Before diving right into this, it's probably important to note that the fall is going to be extremely busy.

Even after football season, Homecoming and the generally busy atmosphere of UCF, there will always be new things for us to cover. Both the new editorial staff and myself couldn't be more excited about a busy semester.

As the incoming editor-in-chief, I'm going to do my best to bring the Future as close to breaking technology as possible. Improved website resources, faster communication between staff, and easier communication with you — our readership — is of paramount importance to us.

Technology is progressing at an exponential rate. In order to work alongside UCF's advances, we too have to evolve.

We will need your help throughout this process, as your feedback is essential to our writers and editors.

Web comments, views, and website hits give us strong, statistical data on how we're performing and what people are reading. We'll take advantage of tools such as these to make sure that the content we deliver is not only newsworthy, but interesting.

At the Future, we're going to try our best to reorganize. During my time working for the U.S. military, I realized that structure and flexibility always have to work hand-in-hand.

For us to keep up with UCF's constantly changing atmosphere, we at the Future have to evolve alongside it. Staying true to certain foundations is essential, but working at a university of UCF's size and scope will require us to pay more attention to many new things.

As mentioned, we have to stay true to who we are: journalists. We are, at our core, curious and interested in the events that affect the world around us.

We'd love to hear from you about what you may consider interesting or if you have any ideas about improvements. Creating a transparent environment so that you can contact any of the editorial staff is always a prime concern.

Never hesitate to contact us, even if it's for a minor idea. What you may consider small may balloon into a campus-wide issue and unveil something many people completely overlooked.

The Future is a part of UCF, and, as such, we will begin meeting with students on campus to gather new writers, photographers and ideas. This will allow us to reach out to every major, year and style of student. In turn, we can simultaneously create an issue that is more diversified in its representation of UCF's student body.

Above all of these, our goal will be to leave the Future with an impact. As editor-in-chief, I'm given some flexibility in adding my own kind of style to each issue. I have put together a staff that not only works well together, but also is willing to take on new challenges with a team mindset.

The most advantageous part about having a strong, experienced team is its ability to multitask. While we create issues, we're going to also create a Future that, in comparison to its predecessors, is unique in its own way.

The pages that lay in front of you are not a responsibility that we take lightly. I sincerely hope that by the time you have read a few issues, you will have noticed some of the changes taking place. These, alongside our traditional methods of production, will lead to what I believe will be a more well-rounded and interesting newspaper for the entire student body.

Even if you're a casual reader that picks up the Future to do the crossword or check out the classifieds, we want you to be interested. By producing each issue, we're attempting to aid students in being well-rounded and knowledgeable about the UCF they care for.

Personally, I can't wait to hear from you — our readership — on our performance. I'm thrilled that I'm able to work this closely with the Future and make sure that it sees the same kinds of advancements that UCF does.

I anticipate an incredibly interesting semester taking place at UCF this fall. I sincerely look forward to meeting many of you at one of the most dynamic universities in the nation: UCF.
