The spring 2012 Greek report was recently released. It compares different sororities and fraternities within UCF’s Greek life and ranks them according to GPA.
The report is released every semester and is available on the Fraternity and Sorority Life website with reports dating back to fall 2005.
There are 3,214 students who participated in Greek life during the spring 2012 semester, and their GPA was 3.096 compared to the overall undergraduate GPA of 2.912.
A GPA of 3.406 led Sigma Gamma Rho to be the highest ranking sorority, and Iota Phi Theta ranked No. 1 among the fraternities with a GPA of 3.293. Neither organization had any new members join during spring 2012, and both have a total of four members in their respective chapters. Both organizations also fall within the National Pan-Hellenic Council, which is the umbrella organization for historically black fraternities and sororities.
The other three divisions within Fraternity and Sorority Life are the Diversified Greek Council, for culturally based fraternities and sororities; the Interfraternity Council for general fraternities; and the Panhellenic Council for general sororities.
Within DGC, Mu Sigma Upsilon was the highest ranking sorority with four members and a 3.309 GPA, and Sigma Lambda Beta was the highest ranking fraternity with 11 members and a 3.143 GPA.
The No. 1 sorority within Panhellenic Council was Alpha Epsilon Phi with 158 members and a 3.405 GPA, and the No. 1 fraternity within IFC was Beta Theta Pi with 73 members and a 3.188 GPA.
UCF’s sororities outranked the fraternities with 446 more members and a GPA that was .224 grade points higher.
Compared to fall 2011, the overall number of students in Greek life went down by 120 members although the GPA rose by .051 grade points.
The GPA figures listed in the report only account for those members who are between the ages of 17 and 24.
