With long boards steadily growing in popularity on the UCF campus, issues involving the storing of them have arisen.

In an effort to manage this growing issue on campus, the UCF Parking and Transportation Advisory Committee met earlier today at the Health and Public Affairs Building to discuss the topic.

After the UCF Student Body Vice President, Adam Brock, received complaints from students about being forced to store their long boards on a shelf outside a lab in the Math and Physics Building, he brought up the issue to the committee.

"I think this is something we need to talk about...it is an alternative form of transportation," Brock said.

The committee then had an open discussion on finding a method of storing long boards inside buildings without a risk of them being stolen.

"It's a very difficult issue, I'm still looking at how other universities are taking care of it," Brock said. "We need to have some type of policy, whether it's inside a building or outside of a building."

Though the committee opened up the issue, the group believes that it will need more time to agree on a recommendation, which is usually sent on to William Merck, the Vice President for Administration and Finance.

"It's about creating a more long board friendly campus," Brock said.

The committee plans on meeting again to discuss the issue on March 2.
