UCF student dies in tragic car crash

SGA senator still in the hospital

The lives of three UCF students were changed forever May 8 when a violent car crash on Alafaya Trail left one student dead and sent two to the hospital. Jesus Ortiz, a business major, died in the crash. Ortiz left Boardwalk Apartments driving a 1999 Honda Accord.

Though I'm supposed to be the objective journalist, I can't help but feel like I've just said goodbye to some of my best friends. That's not to say that while camping I didn't miss air conditioning or a warm, dry bed. I had some very valuable experiences on the trip, from gaining an appreciation for country music to, most importantly, pushing my own boundaries whenever the chance arose.

Two days after Jennifer Kesse's disappearance on Jan. 24, 2006, Orlando police obtained video of a potential suspect. On Thursday, 16 months after the investigation started, police released the video to the public for the first time. When she was a young girl, Courtney Moors saw a production of West Side Story. It was the first major play she ever saw, and it was at that moment, while watching the actors performing on stage, that Moors thought to herself, "Who wouldn't want to do this?" "I thought it was the coolest thing that it was these people's job to get up on stage and make believe and have fun.

Members of Orlando Food Not Bombs marched down Central Boulevard in downtown Orlando last Wednesday, protesting Mayor Buddy Dyer's presence just two blocks from Thornton Park where the group feeds the homeless once a week. Dyer was holding a campaign fundraiser at Urban Think! Bookstore.

Residents agree on bridge plans

Residents in the Bonneville area could soon be getting a $50,000 pedestrian bridge to connect their community with UCF's Research Park. Jon Zimmerman, a senior digital media major, leaves his house in Bonneville every morning at 8:45 to work at the Physical Plant Complex at UCF.
