Gunshot at Knight Library a close call

One person injured by broken glass; no one harmed by bullet

A gunshot at the Knight Library early Monday morning left one woman injured. At 12:54 a.m. the Orange County Sheriff's Department responded to the shot. A bullet fired by an unknown person passed through the window, hit a cash register and fell to the ground, said Dell Lovejoy, Knight Library general manager and a UCF alumnus who was present at the time of the shooting.

Berkowitz, Delanois' violations dismissed

Logan Berkowitz and Brandon Delanois will remain student body president and vice president elects despite having five violations filed against them. Richard Skandera, a former SGA senator, filed the violations on Friday just minutes before 5 p.m., the deadline for filing violations against any ticket.

Shuttle tracking means less wait

Hate missing the shuttle? A new system called TransLoc is working to fix that. Using global positioning devices that track the real-time location of vehicles, riders can view the exact location of their bus on the TransLoc Web site. Wait-weary students are already enjoying the system at Auburn University, Emory University, Harvard University, North Carolina State University, University of Alabama and Yale University.

Religious housing upsets some students

Some UCF students are unhappy about plans to build a religious community north of campus. The community in question is a project of the Central Florida Hillel Foundation and is planned for construction on Lockwood Boulevard and McCulloch Road, the site of a former Winn-Dixie.

UCF grads run local art museum

Not all college graduates are lucky enough to have their dream jobs soon after graduation. But for two UCF graduates running an art museum, it isn't only a dream; it's a reality. Jackie Houck and Vanessa Soler, who both graduated with degrees from UCF in 2006, recently took positions at the Lake Eustis Museum of Art.

Web site tutors students 24/7

It's the night before the algebra exam and half of the study guide is still confusing. The choice comes down to a good night's sleep or a good grade on the next day's test. At this point, it's one or the other. Almost every student experiences a moment of panic like this during the college experience.
