The UCF Baseball team played its best conference series of the year this past weekend, even though it came in a losing cause. The Knights lost two out of three games to No. 4 Rice, but displayed effort and determination that was missing when they were swept last weekend at Marshall, and showed that they could stand toe-to-toe with Conference USA's top team.
It was another game, another Allison Kime start and another home win for the UCF Softball team Sunday, as the Knights played their final home game of the season against Stetson and came away with an 8-0 win. It was the second straight game in which the Knights beat a foe in five innings, and they to 40-17 on the season, the fourth time they have reached that win plateau.
How many people are going to have to doubt Kevin Smith before he gets some respect? He heard the same old song since about halfway through last season, right about the time that UCF laid an egg in Tampa on Oct. 13. Smith was a product of his environment, Conference USA didn't have any top-flight talent, and his amazing season was because he never faced real competition.
