The Physical Sciences Building was evacuated Tuesday night as the Orange County bomb squad searched it after a housekeeper reported a suspicious man, said Chad Binette, associate director of UCF News & Information.

The housekeeper saw a man at 9:20 p.m. walking into a secure lab on the third floor. She felt uneasy about the man so she reported the incident around 10:15 p.m. UCF is currently investigating to see if the man was authorized to be there, Binette said.

Because the investigation is ongoing, a description of the man is not currently available although Binette said the UCF Police Department has confirmed he is a UCF student.

The building was evacuated as the Orange County Bomb Squad, Orange County Fire Rescue and the UCF Police Department searched it, although nothing suspicious was found and the building was cleared around 2 a.m. No other buildings were evacuated, Binette said.

The Physical Sciences Building is located on the southwest end of campus near the Health Center. Students attended classes as usual Wednesday morning.
