Cortez Whatley, UCF Student Government Association president, said that his greatest challenge in college was voting for the tuition increase at the Florida Board of Governors meeting in June.

CFF: My final question is what advice do you have for students just starting out here at UCF?

Whatley: Get involved in some way, be it a club, agency or department. It allows you to see more and broaden your scope. It helps you meet different people and allows you to see yourself as an individual. It elevates you out of thousands of people. Step outside of your comfort zone, do something you might be interested in that may or may not be up your alley. These are the prime years to try different things. Surf, work out, try an outdoor adventure — it is all part of the experience. Just as much as you need to study, you also need to work on having a good time and enjoying the years you’re in college.
