A man who works for UCF's information technology department was arrested on campus Thursday on a charge of possessing material depicting sexual performance by a child, according to an arrest affidavit.
Grant Heston, assistant vice president of communications and public affairs for UCF News & Information, confirmed that 19-year-old Youssef Alhindi was arrested on campus Thursday.
"An OPS [Other Personal Services] employee was arrested yesterday by FDLE [Florida Department of Law Enforcement]. Until such time the criminal issues are resolved, the employee will not be working at UCF," Heston said in an email.
Alhindi's arrest warrant was signed just after 12:30 p.m. and he was arrested by the UCF Police Department around 2 p.m. at the Health Center, where he works in the information technology department, according to the affidavit.
Officer Pete Stephens from the UCF Police Department said they had not been investigating the case, they were just asked by the FDLE to assist in making the arrest.
Check back for further developments as they become available.
Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly identified John Sinclair as a UCF employee, when in fact Youssef Al-Hindi is a UCF employee. Both men were arrested on the same day.
