University Christian Fellowship invited UCF students to come out and experience their ministry through step, dance, acting and singing at the Exhibition of Praise on Sunday.

Campus Ministry University Christian Fellowship hosted its 6th annual Exhibition of Praise, Cirque d'Utopia. The event was held in the Venue at 5 p.m.

This year's performers included Appointed Praise, Disciples of Christ Step, Spiritual Movement Dance Team, and A.C.T.I.O.N. (Actors Called To Inspire Our Nation) Drama Ministry. Opening the show was Resound followed by Vicky Clark performing spoken word and Slave 618 performing Christian rap.

"The title came after discovering the definition of the word Utopia – a perfect world that can never be attained," said Cherice Roddy, a jazz studies junior and the current chair of this year's Exhibition of Praise. "We used the French word ‘Cirque' which means circus and combined that with Utopia to [make] ‘Cirque d'Utopia.'"

Cirque d'Utopia, one of University Christian Fellowship's biggest events of the year, shared the message of how life is a circus, and sometimes we're all in a battle between the spirit and the flesh.

This year's main character, the circus ringmaster, was played by Brittney Childs, a junior humanities major. The ringmaster's role was to tell the people of the circus to abandon the ways of their old ringmaster, Jesus.

"No mistakes, everything must be perfect," Childs said during the show.

Her words were meant to deceive the people within the circus to believe lies and to hold them back from doing the things that God has called them to do.

Each scene within the production gave the audience a different lesson starting with the illusionists, a tightrope walker, mimes and lastly the freak show. These acts conveyed lessons such as being shown the way to Jesus, trying overcoming fear and having a voice.

"Exhibition of praise was more than just a show, it was a great display of entertainment and enlightenment through the amazing performances from different ministries and the underlying message of the production," said Kiara Nair, a junior social work major.

Also at the show was Magda Auguste, a health services administration graduate student. This was her fourth year attending Exhibition of Praise. She hoped that the message of the show would touch those in attendance more than anything.

"The performing ministries did an awesome job, it was apparent that they put a lot of hard work into the show," Auguste said.

Brian Taylor, University Christian Fellowship's pastor, gave encouraging remarks at the end of the show.

He said that the whole purpose of the show was to share the message of Jesus Christ as a campus ministry and "to introduce to some, and reintroduce to others, the importance of establishing a relationship with Jesus Christ."
