Rob Calabrese led the Knights to a 38-7 win over South Dakota in the season-opener at Bright House Networks Stadium.

Calabrese threw for 176 yards and a touchdown and went 12 for 15 in pass attempts, including a perfect 9 for 9 in the first half. Calabrese threw for 140 yards in the first half alone; for reference, it took Calabrese until week 9 of 2009 to get to 140 yards.

On the ground, Jonathan Davis ran for 107 yards and a score. He achieved his career-high in just the second quarter.

Freshman quarterback Jeff Godfrey had an efficient debut, throwing for 65 yards and a touchdown.

A.J. Guyton took an 11-yard pass from Calabrese in the second quarter for a score en route to 127 yards in the air.

The Knights defensive line looked shaky in the first half, but shored up in the second. The Coyotes could only muster 116 yards on the ground total after putting up 81 in the first half.
