Men's basketball

Clanton named Player of the Week

   Junior forward Keith Clanton was named the Conference USA Player of the Week following two impressive performances in wins over Memphis and UAB. Clanton scored 23 points in the victory over the Tigers, including the game-winning free throw with  :04 remaining. The Orlando-native added in a team-high 10 points in the win against the Blazers.

 

Women's basketball

Carter receives dual honors

   Junior guard Gevenia Carter has been named the Conference USA Player of the Week and the College Sports Madness C-USA Player of the Week. Carter, who is first in the league for scoring in conference games (17.8 points per game), posted a career-high 28 points in an important road win at Marshall to follow 15 points and eight rebounds against Rice.

 

Track & Field

Freeman recognized for second consecutive week

   Freshman sprinter Octavious Freeman was named the Conference USA Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the second-consecutive week. Freeman is the first Knight to receive the honor in consecutive weeks since 2006, UCF's inaugural season in C-USA. Following her performance at the Auburn Invitational, Freeman is currently the only sprinter in the country who has solidified her spot at nationals in her event (60-meter).

 

Tennis

UCF's Blasco recognized

 

   Junior Jorge Blasco was announced as Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Blasco, who is in his first season with the program, picked up his second win over a ranked foe when he defeated No. 115 Danny Kreyman of Wake Forest.

 

Football

Former Knight Miller appears on Sports Illustrated cover

 

   Two-time Conference USA Player of the Year Bruce Miller, whose San Francisco 49ers fell Sunday in the NFC Championship Game, graced the cover of Sports Illustrated with teammates Jonathan Goodwin, Alex Smith and Frank Gore.
