The No. 10 Knights improved to 2-0 in Conference USA and 8-1-1 overall with a 4-2 win on the road at No. 21 SMU (5-1, 0-1). UCF ended the Mustangs' three-game win streak with its second straight win over ranked, conference opponents.
"Playing at SMU is never easy," head coach Bryan Cunningham said in a release. "It is extremely difficult for a road team to win at SMU. I am very proud of our players. They took advantage of chances. This was a great win."
Scoring goals for the Knights were juniors Nik Robson and Eduardo Jimenez, who scored in the 32nd and 34th minutes, respectively. Sophomore McKauly Tulloch scored twice, once in the 55th minute and again in the 69th. The two goals increase Tulloch's season total to 12 in only 10 games.
The Knights took a first-half advantage and held a lead for the entirety of the match.
"Tonight we knew that we would need a quick start," Cunningham said. "We were able to go up 2-0 and that got us going for the rest of the match."
The win puts the Knights in a tie for first place in C-USA with Marshall and South Carolina. UCF will face off against the Gamecocks at home Saturday at 4 p.m.
