UCF failed to advance to the Conference USA championship as they fell to UAB 1-0 in the semi-finals Friday night in Tulsa, OK. UAB will advance to play SMU in the conference final.

UCF held an advantage in shots 15-10, but were unable to score a goal in the match.

"I am very proud of our guys effort," Coach Bryan Cunningham said in a release. "Unfortunately, it was not enough. But we will keep our heads up and hopefully have a chance to play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament next week."

UAB took the early lead with a goal in the 11th minute. The Blazer's goalkeeper, Carl Woszczynski, totaled 11 saves on the night.

UAB defeated UCF in the regular season with a similar result, 1-0 on Oct. 15.

Now that the Knights are eliminated form the C-USA championship, they must rely on an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament. They will learn if they earned a bid on Monday.
