Knights forward Keith Clanton led all players with 28 points and had 15 rebounds.

Days scored 15 points on five-for-11 shooting on the night.

Moving forward now, the Knights will have a lot to look at before their season opener against St. Thomas on Saturday.

The investigation into Rompza and Jordan's eligibility looms large because the two seniors were expected to man the helm at point guard. With no timeframe, Sykes may be forced to learn the position on the fly, a situation Jones acknowledged as not being ideal.

"He's still learning. He's like a freshman quarterback at that position where we're asking him to start the offense," Jones said. "We're asking him to do a lot of things."

The Knights seem like a more athletic team. With a full, or close to it, roster going forward, the forecast should become clearer for UCF.

"Out of our offense's repertoire, we had to shorten it and run four or five plays when we have 30 plays," Jones said. "We had to simplify it tonight. … So those guys created their own offense a little bit tonight in a short turnaround."
