The Knights take on South Carolina next after a tough road stretch.

The Knights (9-3-3) fell to division-foe Memphis (11-4-1) 3-2 despite a late effort to tie the game. The road loss gave UCF a 3-2-1 record in Conference USA.

Sophomore Steven Lamberta scored a goal in the 80th minute to make the score 3-2, but the Knights were unable to muster a comeback. The Tigers' two first-half goals gave them the advantage for the majority of the game.

"Give all the credit to Memphis tonight. They executed well in every facet of the game," coach Bryan Cunningham said in a release. "I told our guys we got outworked and outplayed. We need to regroup and get ready to play another tough team in South Carolina Tuesday."

Also scoring for the Knights was junior Nik Robson, who recorded a goal in the 30th minute. The Knights' leading goal-scorer, sophomore McKauly Tulloch, did not play in the match.

UCF returns home after playing five of its last six on the road Tuesday at 4 p.m. South Carolina will visit for a conference match that was originally scheduled for Oct. 8 but was postponed due to inclement weather.
