The UCF Knights (10-4-1) dropped their fourth match 2-1 in double overtime against Colorado College (9-3-4) Friday night.

The game started off in UCF’s favor with a goal by Jennifer Martin in the 17th minute. Sophie Howard assisted Martin in her third goal of the season. The score remained the same until the second half.

The momentum shifted in Colorado College’s favor in the 65th minute when its midfielder, Kaeli Vandersluis, evened up the score 1-1. With the match tied up at the end of regulation, the Knights entered overtime for the fourth time this season.

Colorado College’s golden goal was delivered by Brittney Lyman and assisted by Kecia Morway in the 108th minute.

The Knights are familiar with overtime games, as they have won one, lost two and tied one in their four overtime matches this season. Friday’s loss marked the second game of the 2012 campaign that UCF has lost in double overtime.

The Knights have entered uncharted waters, as they haven’t lost two in a row since the 2008-09 season.

UCF seems to have lost momentum in the season and was knocked down from No. 8 to No. 16 in the rankings earlier in the week.

The Knights remained on the road and faced UTEP on Sunday. Results were not available at the time of press. The Knights will return home this weekend to play East Carolina on Friday and Marshall on Sunday.
