In a matchup of two streaking teams, UCF (9-10, 4-3) welcomed the SMU Mustangs (11-8, 4-2) into the UCF Arena hoping to keep their hot scoring and dominant rebounding on the upswing.
SMU would, however, put a sudden halt to the winning ways of the Knights with a come-from-behind 60-48 victory Thursday night.
Junior guard Gevenia Carter, coming off a career-high 28 points at Marshall on Sunday, was held to just 13 points on 4-16 shooting during Thursday's game.
UCF went into halftime up 29-26, but SMU was able to overtake the Knights in the second half, shooting 52 percent from the field.
The Mustangs held UCF to just 32.1 percent shooting.
Junior forward Kayli Keough led the Knights with 14 points while Aisha Patrick added nine points, eight rebounds and four assists in the loss.
UCF travels to UTEP (17-2, 6-0) on Sunday hoping to get back on track against the number one team in the conference.
