Three seniors took the floor at the UCF Arena for their last regular season game of their careers.
UCF (12-16, 7-9) welcomed in the Marshall Thundering Herd (16-13, 7-9), badly needing a win to put a three game losing streak behind them. Though the Knights did lead during the contest, they allowed that same lead to slip away and suffered a 70-62 loss.
Senior guard Aisha Patrick knew what was at stake and was visibly aggressive on both ends of the court. Patrick led the Knights in scoring with 19 points and 12 rebounds and helped UCF to a 36-30 at the half.
It was one that wouldn't stick, though, part because of UCF's inability to convert from the perimeter on one end of the floor or defend it on the other. Marshall outscores the Knights on 3-poiners, 27-12.
Junior forward Kayli Keough scored 12 points and Andrea Hines added 11 of her own.
The loss put a damper on the Senior Night festivities at the UCF Arena, but in a ceremony following the contest the seniors were still graceful, even in defeat.
"I want to thank everyone for coming out here and supporting us. I want to thank the coaches and my teammates," said Patrick.
Racine Davis grabbed four rebounds in her final home contest.
"I want to thank the crowd for supporting us over the past four years," Davis said. "I want to thank the coaches for getting us through the tough times and [Ashia Kelly] and [Aisha Patrick] for always having my back."
