*Understanding Your Credit

The Buzz: Financial experts from FAIRWINDS will be teaching students how to set themselves up for success now and in the future. They will be talking about subjects such as what makes up a credit score, what impacts a credit score and how to maintain a strong credit score.

The Buzz: See what Wellness and Health Promotion Services has to offer.

*How Students Raised $75,000 for their Invention
When: Noon to 1 p.m.
Where: Student Union in the Blackstone LaunchPad
Cost: Free
The Buzz: Two UCF engineering students received a $75,000 investment for their invention idea and they will be talking about how other students can accomplish the same feat. Seating is limited to the first 40 students.

*Building a Reputation at UCF
When: 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Student Union room 220
Cost: Free
The Buzz: Students can learn what skills and steps are necessary to build a reputation of professionalism, integrity and excellence. Communication skills, how to promote personal skills and professionalism will be discussed.

*Alpha Phi Omega Road Cleanup and Field Day
When: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Lake Claire Recreational Area
Cost: Free
The Buzz: Alpha Phi Omega is cleaning up around the UCF campus and then will finish with a field day at Memory Mall. It will meet at the bus circle behind the Student Union.

*Art Gallery Opening Reception for Brenda Giegerich
When: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Center for Emerging Media, 500 W. Livington St., Orlando
Cost: Free
The Buzz: This is the opening reception for Brenda Giegerich and will feature her abstract paintings.

*The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
When: 8 p.m.
Where: UCF Theatre Mainstage
Cost: $10 with student ID
The Buzz: In this musical, six spelling champs are vying for the opportunity to compete in the national spelling bee in Washington, D.C. Audience participation is encouraged.

*CAB Presents: Concert Knight
When: 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: CFE Arena
Cost: Free with student ID
The Buzz: The performance will open with local talent and winners of X-Factor Alex & Sierra. Then, headliner Karmin will perform.

*The "Orlando is Tight" Comedy Show

The Buzz: This comedy show will feature six comedians. A free shirt will be given to the first 20 people. There is also a $5 beer special.

Friday, Aug. 22

*Kick Off Your Game Plan

Where: Career Services Experiential Learning patio

The Buzz: Meet the Career Services and Experiential Learning staff and learn more about what services they provide. Food will be provided and tours will be given of the UCF Career Center.

*Fashion Startup Stories
When: Noon to 1 p.m.
Where: Student Union in the Blackstone LaunchPad
Cost: Free
The Buzz: Bonnie Barton, the tailor and seamstress whose resume includes working for Beyonce, Madonna and more, will be talking about her experience. She will discuss how she went from working on location with Ralph Lauren's photo advertising team to founding a fashion startup in Orlando.

*International Welcome Reception
When: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Student Union room 218AB
Cost: Free
The Buzz: This event brings together students, staff and UCF partners to introduce new international students to UCF. Campus partners will be distributing information along with raffle events, food and prizes.

*Orlando House of Blues Presents Cassadee Pope
When: Doors open at 7:30 p.m., show starts at 8:30 p.m.
Where: Orlando House of Blues, 1490 E. Lake Buena Vista Dr Orlando

The Buzz: Former The Voice winner Cassedee Pope will perform. The event is for all ages.

*Orlando Urban Music Festival
When: 8 p.m.

The Buzz: This event will feature Anthony Hamilton, Lyfe Jennings, Jazmine Sullivan and Mali Music. The night will be hosted by comedian Kevin "Damn Fool" Simpson.

The Buzz: This event will have activites such as tie-dye, outdoor games and corn hole. There will also be DJs and free food. RSOs will be handing out promotional items.

*Wall Street Plaza Block Party

Where: Wall Street Plaza, 26 Wall St., Orlando
Price: Free
The Buzz: Visit the six different bars located at Wall Street Plaza while enjoying live DJs or other entertainment and drink specials. Drink specials include $4 Fireball shots, $5 Jager shots and $6 Jameson shots.

Saturday, Aug. 23

*Pegasus Palooza Service Day
When: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Meet at Knights Plaza
Cost: Free
The Buzz: Volunteer UCF will be volunteering with Clean the World and Second Harvest Food Bank. To volunteer with Second Harvest Food Bank meet at 7:45 a.m. and to volunteer with Clean the World meet at 8 a.m. Transportation will be provided.

*O-Town MacDown
When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Orange County Convention Center
Cost: $15 for adults and $10 for children
The Buzz: This cooking competition hosted by SeaWorld is all about the mac-n-cheese. Attendees can sample the competitor's concoctions and eat from the two endless mac-n-cheese bars. There will also be a children's zone. This will benefit Give Kids the World Village.

*McDonald's Grand Opening
When: Noon to 2 p.m.
Where: McDonald's, 12305 University Blvd., Orlando
Cost: Cost of food
The Buzz: Knightro, UCF cheerleaders and DJs will be at this grand opening of the newly renovated restaurant. There will be a photo booth, beanbag toss and giveaways with prizes such as UCF Athletic tickets, UCF merchandise and tickets to Disney, SeaWorld and Busch Gardens.

*Knight-Thon 5K For The Kids
When: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Memory Mall
Cost: $25 before day of event and $30 day of event
The Buzz: This annual charity 5K will benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Signups for the 5K will be at 6 p.m.

*Pegasus Palooza VIP Pool Party

The Buzz: Enjoy the last event of Pegasus Palooza in your baiting suit.

The Buzz: Experienced entrepreneur Pam Hoelzle will be teaching her completely free course on "How to Launch Your Startup in One Semester." Students will learn the straight-forward steps they should take to turn any idea for a start-up into a reality.

*U-Knight-ed We Stand
When: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Neptune Multipurpose Room
Cost: Free
The Buzz: This event will kick off the B.L.A.C.K. (Building Leaders and Connecting Knights) series. It will have a panel of students, faculty and staff discussing the black community at UCF and the black community in America. There will be free food.

*National Panhellenic Council Greek Expo

The Buzz: NPHC Greek Fraternities and Sororities, historically African-American organization, will be presenting information on their programs. NPHC promotes interaction through forums, meetings and other mediums for the exchange of information and engages in cooperative programming and initiatives through various activities and functions.

*Pitch Your Idea Wednesday

The Buzz: Students can share their ideas for start-ups, nonprofits, inventions, design and more. The top ideas will receive a $5 gift card to Mrs. Fields Bakery & Pita Stop and will advance to a monthly "pitch off" for the opportunity to win a $30 4 Rivers Smokehouse gift card.

*Networking Strategies

*Resume Workshop

The Buzz: Students will learn strategies to develop a combination resume that highlights their transferable skills and accomplishments to create an excellent combination resume.


* The Mu Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, Presents 2014 Peppermint Social: #RITNB
When: 7:13 p.m.
Where: Student Union Pegasus Ballroom
Cost: Free
The Buzz: The Peppermint Social is an annual event put on by the Mu Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta to give students the opportunity to socialize, get to know the chapter members and mingle amongst other students. Red is the New Black, a theme inspired by popular Netflix series Orange is The New Black, will be a night filled with team-building games and unique activities.
