The more than $500 million, two-block Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts opened this morning with a ribbon cutting.

The Grand Premiere will continue for the next week with a variety of events to commemorate the center's opening.

"The events that we have put together for the Grand Premiere of the Dr. Phillips Center reflect the vision of 'Arts for Every Life,'" president of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Kathy Ramsberger said in a release. "So many people have worked so hard for so long, and because of their passion and their persistence — it happened. The dream of a performing arts center has become the reality of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and we want everyone to come and celebrate together."

The center is opening its Stage 1, which includes the Walt Disney Theater with more than 2,700 seats, the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater with more than 300 seats and the Seneff Arts Plaza.

The Grand Premiere includes free and ticketed events for the community. The events are as follows:

Saturday, Nov. 8
Noon to 6 p.m.
Community open house, free and open to the public

8 p.m.
Celebration of the Seneff Arts Plaza Concert featuring Sheryl Crow, free and open to the public

Sunday, Nov. 9
Noon to 4 p.m.
Community open house, free and open to the public

6 p.m.
Film on the Seneff Arts Plaza, free and open to the public

Friday, Nov. 14
8 p.m.
Celebration of the Alexis & Jim Pugh theater featuring Emmylou Harris, ticketed event

Saturday, Nov. 15
Dinner 5 p.m.
Performance 8:30 p.m.
Broadway and Beyond at the Walt Disney Theater, ticketed event

Saturday, Nov. 22
7:30 P.M.
Carmina Burana, produced by Orlando Ballet with Bach Festival Society of Winter Park, ticketed event
