A new bar will be opening this week across from UCF's main campus, with hopes of being something other than your typical college scene.
Stagger Inn UCF will open Friday at 12190 Collegiate Way in suite 140.
Adam Caldwell, marketing director for Stagger Inn, said the biggest difference from the other bars in the area is that Stagger Inn UCF will make it more of an experience than just a college bar.
"The whole theme for the bar is country, but we want to essentially be the all-American party bar," Caldwell said. "It can be anything you want it to be."
The Stagger Inn UCF bar will be the second location in Orlando; the first is the downtown Stagger Inn at the corner of East Central Boulevard and North Magnolia Avenue.
The new bar will be for those 18 and older, and will try to push more of a standard happy hour to capture that middle demographic.
Besides that, the bar will also boast a fog machine, high-quality sound system and surprises in drink specials and events for the bar-goers to discover themselves.
Every day will be designated for a specific special event, such as Moonshine Mondays, Daisy Duke Tuesdays — where ladies have free cover until 10 p.m. — Wagon Wheel Wednesdays and possibly Stagger Fridays.
Caldwell said on Thursdays at midnight, the bartenders will get on the bar and do the chicken dance. Approximately 15 to 30 minutes after, there will be $1 fireball shots.
"On Friday, we'll have a deal where you have the opportunity to beat the clock and get locked in for student happy hour," he said.
Slated to open at a currently undetermined time on Friday, Stagger Inn UCF will allow people to arrive early to receive a wristband that gets them specials designated for the hour.
Caldwell said Stagger Inn UCF is planning on eventually having a Sunday Funday, during which a bus will transport people from the UCF location to the downtown location.
People would receive a wristband at the UCF bar, which would allow them to receive certain specials at the downtown bar.
According to the Stagger Inn UCF Facebook page, the bar will be supplying a bus ride to Gasparilla on Jan. 31 as well. Complimentary mimosas at Stagger Inn UCF at 10 a.m. and a ride to the Tampa parade will be covered with a $17 charge.
A complimentary brunch in Tampa at Duckys, specials at Graffiti Junktion in South Tampa before the invasion and a ride back to Stagger Inn UCF will also be included.
"One of the things we're also going to do to make it different is have events," Caldwell said. "We want to do a lot of things to reach out and get everyone involved."
