A film screening of The Red Silk Thread: An Epic Tale of Marco Polo, an opera written by UCF professor of music Stella Sung, will premiere Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Visual Arts Building auditorium.
Sung is a UCF music professor and director of UCF's Center for Research and Education in Arts, Technology and Entertainment (CREATE). The film screening is a debut of the opera performed last year at the University of Florida and is directed by UCF assistant professor of film Lisa Mills.
In three acts, the opera follows Marco Polo, who lands in Kublai Khan's great court with the legendary Chinese Princess Cocachin.
