The Buzz: Epcot's annual Flower and Garden Festival features seasonal foods around the park and bright, blooming flowers for guests to enjoy.

Orlando Chili Cook-Off

The Buzz: At this year's Chili Cook-Off, more than 100 teams and 200,000 people will participate. Cooks will make their original recipes from scratch. Attendees will also participate in choosing the winner of the People's Choice Award. They can also compete in the World Chili Eating Contest. Proceeds from the event will benefit Florida Special Olympics.

Orlando FIRST Robotics Regional Competition

The Buzz: Sixty-four teams of high school students from around the world have descended upon UCF to compete in the Orlando Regional Robotics Competition. Competitors have the opportunity to learn how to use sophisticated engineering software and compete in tournaments using 120-pound, student-built robots. Participants also have the opportunity to qualify for more than $20 million in college scholarships.

Full-scale emergency exercise

The Buzz: During spring break, UCF will host a full-scale emergency preparedness exercise by drawing more than 1,000 first responders from across the Central Florida area. The exercise will test agencies' response abilities, and it'll give participants a chance to improve their procedures for dealing with emergencies. Students can volunteer to be a part of the exercise.

Taste of Oviedo

Where: Oviedo Mall, 1700 Oviedo Mall Blvd., Oviedo

The Buzz: More than 200 vendors from Oviedo will gather to promote arts and crafts, food, beverages and more. The event won't feature a car show or fireworks for the first time, but it will have a Cirque du Soleil theme with real Cirque performers. There will also be several bands, a kid's zone and plenty of food.
