Winter Park Paint Out

Where: Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens; 633 Osceola Ave., Winter Park

UCF Arboretum Cooking Demo

Where: UCF Nature Pavilion

Cost: Free

The Buzz: The UCF Arboretum will offer a cooking demo using fresh ingredients from the garden for quick, easy recipes. Participants can taste what will be made and take home the recipe to make the dish.

Relax and Flow Yoga

When: 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Recreation and Wellness Center at Knights Plaza

Cost: Free

The Buzz: At this introductory beginner's yoga class, participants can learn basic yoga and mindfulness. Mats are provided and attendees should wear comfortable clothing.

Chairs 4 Charity

When: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Where: Orlando Museum of Art; 2416 N. Mills Ave., Orlando

Cost: $75

The Buzz: This event is a gala and live auction all at once. At the fifth annual Chairs 4 Charity, 10 local artists will be channeling the 1920s on their canvases, which will be chairs. The admission price includes food, refreshments and live music. Proceeds will benefit The Mustard Seed of Central Florida.

International Christian Film Festival

When: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Where: Crowne Plaza Hotel Orlando-Downtown; 304 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando

Cost: $10

The Buzz: Watch the latest international Christian films before they hit the big screen. More than 50 films and documentaries will be shown.

Joust Records presents Open Mic Night

When: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: Wackadoo's Grub & Brew; UCF Student Union

Cost: Free

The Buzz: For its first event of the semester, Joust Records — a UCF student-run record label — will welcome singers, instrument players, entertainers and artists for open mic night at the Wackadoo's in the Student Union. The event is first-come, first-served.

Senior Design Day Showcase

When: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Engineering II building and Harris Engineering Center

Cost: Free

The Buzz: Senior design students will present 100 inventions, machines and devices at this event, which is hosted by the College of Engineering and Computer Science. At the showcase, participants will have the opportunity to see UCF students' creations, such as a drone that plays laser tag, a Lego sorter, 3-D-printed limbs and gloves that simulate the sound of drums.

Florida Anime Experience

When: April 24 to April 26

Where: Park Inn; 3011 Maingate Lane, Kissimmee

Cost: $20 to $45 at the door

The Buzz: At this three-day pop-culture event, participants can celebrate anime, mange, cosplay and video games.

Dance Gavin Dance

When: 6:30 p.m.

Where: BackBooth Bar and Venue; 37 W. Pine St., Orlando

Cost: $16

The Buzz: Attendees can enjoy a Friday night filled with music. Dance Gavin Dance will perform at BackBooth, and the night will feature musical guests Polyphia, Hail the Sun, Stolas and Aglacia.

4 Way Musical Greek Recital

When: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: UCF Visual Arts Building

Cost: Free

The Buzz: UCF's musical Greek organizations — including Phi Mu Alpha, Tau Beta Sigma, Sigma Alpha Iota and Kappa Kappa Psi — are performing and hosting a recital for the Central Florida community to come out and enjoy on Friday night.

Run for the Trees Jeannette Genius McKean Memorial 5K

When: 7:30 a.m.

Where: Showalter Field; 2525 Cady Way, Winter Park

The Buzz: The last mile of the 5K run will take participants through the tree-canopied Genius Drive, which is only open once a year for the event.

Central Florida Earth Day 2015

When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Lake Eola Park

Cost: Free

The Buzz: This annual Earth Day festival will feature eco-friendly exhibitors and speakers, non-profits presentations, fun and games for kids, dog and cat adoptions, restaurant booths, environmental and humane education, artist and craft corners and live music.

WJRR Earthday Birthday

When: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Where: Central Florida Fairgrounds & Exposition Park; 4603 W. Colonial Dr., Orlando

Cost: $59 plus tax

The Buzz: Artists including Rise Against, Flyleaf and Five Finger Death Punch hit Central Florida for the 22nd WJRR Earthday Birthday music festival.

She's the First UCF- #SweatforSTF Field Day

When: 11:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: UCF Intramural Fields

Cost: Free

The Buzz: Participants will form teams of five to compete in various physical, mental and strategic events in She's the First UCF's first field day. The winning team will receive a prize, but the event will have pizza for all. Teams are encouraged to donate and fundraise at the event to expand the goal of She's the First UCF — to sponsor the education of girls in low-income countries.

UCF Softball vs. North Florida

When: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: UCF Softball Stadium

Cost: Free with student ID

The Buzz: At this home game the Lady Knights will take on the UNF Ospreys. As a pink-out night, the event will include a pink T-shirt giveaway and pink softballs.

German Fest

When: 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Where: German America Society of Central Florida

Cost: $5

The Buzz: To celebrate German culture, the German Fest will include beer, food and dancing.

Downtown Pour

When: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: Church Street Station; 127 W. Church St., Orlando

Cost: $20 presale, $25 at the door

The Buzz: This wine event will take over Church Street for its 10th year. It will feature 50 tents that each have two tastings, live music, art and a variety of drinks.

UCF Opera Gala: Dido and Aeneas

When: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: Visual Arts Building Auditorium

Cost: $20 general admission, $15 for seniors, $10 for those 18 years and younger and those with a UCF ID are in free.

The Buzz: This opera is based on Virgil's Aeneid and tells the tragic love story of the Queen of Carthage, Dido and Prince Aeneas.

Wanda Sykes
