Waka Flocka Flame is coming to UCF, and all the concert proceeds are going back into the community.
Four UCF fraternities, Alpha Tau Omega, Kappa Sigma, Phi Delta Theta and Sigma Chi are all working together to hold the Sept. 4 philanthropy concert. It will be located at The Venue at UCF and doors will open at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and will be available for purchase on Ticketmaster on July 24. The event is open to the public, and all the money raised will be given to Orange County Public Schools.
"When we came up with the idea and the presidents all got together, we all wanted to do something that would have a tangible impact on the local community, especially the schools," said Danny Grewal, president of Kappa Sigma.
Grewal, a finance and accounting senior, said they are still trying to find more artists who want to support the cause.
Lincoln Devine, president of Alpha Tau Omega, said the reasons for throwing this concert were to increase Greek awareness around campus and to work together with the other fraternities to raise money for a cause.
"An event like this has never been done before at UCF. While ourselves and a few other fraternities have hosted philanthropy concerts, there hasn't been an instance where four organizations come together to host one," said Devine, a business management senior. "We're trying to push the envelope with this concert and raise at least $50,000, a feat that hasn't been done with a single Greek philanthropy event."
