Based on a true story, a short film is being produced in Central Florida to raise awareness about human trafficking.

Filming for the movie On Your Street started on Saturday, and the film’s writer, Michelle Brown, the cast and crew — including UCF student and main cast member Devin Merrick — are all residents of Central Florida, according to a press release.

The film tells the story of Maddy and her sister as they are unwillingly coerced into the world of human trafficking. When the two girls are invited to a party, they arrive only to find that the party wasn’t what they expected to be. When Maddy’ sister disappears, it is up to her to save her sister before it is too late.

With Florida being listed as one of the top three destinations for human trafficking victims, On Your Street is currently seeking funding and sponsorship via gofundme.com to help spread the word about human trafficking and make a change, according to the release.
