It was a winless UCF football season this year, but a Downtown Orlando bar attempted to lift spirits for Knights fans who may have wanted to drink the disappointment away.

The Basement Orlando committed to its promise of giving away free beer each game until UCF wins, and after a 0-12 season, the bar totaled a little more than 15,000 free beers – a retail cost of about $60,000.

After regrouping from the South Carolina loss that put UCF 0-4 back in September, the bar's general manager Logan Berkowitz came up with the promotion in an attempt to gain more excitement for Knights fans.

After a 44-3 loss against I-4 rival USF on Thanksgiving night, the Knights closed out their 2015 season. However, the bar's marketing director Jake Whitacre said the promotion lives on.

"We are fully committed to our promise of free beer until UCF wins a game, and that includes next season," Whitacre said. "We'd definitely like to thank the fans for showing up week after week for the Knights. Even when we have the worst team in the country, UCF has the best fans."
