"UCF students give Rick Scott an F." Or at least that's what Florida For All says.
The grassroots organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the interests of Florida's seniors, children and middle-class families, according to its website, will launch its "Students Against Scott" campaign this week at UCF.
A press conference Wednesday at noon on the Student Union Patio will kickoff the weeklong series of events at different college campuses around the state.
"From cutting Higher Education funding and gutting Bright Futures Scholarships, to refusing to support initiatives that promote economic opportunity and equality, to his anti-environment policies — Rick Scott has failed young people," the press release states.
Jennifer Bautista, chair of the UCF College Republicans, however, says Scott has worked to open more doors for college students.
""The so-called 'Students Against Scott' group should be known as 'Students for Higher Tuition,' because that will be the result of voting for Charlie Crist," she said in an email. "When Crist was governor, he raised tuition on Florida students by up to 15 percent every year. Rick Scott repealed this crippling tuition increase and cut the cost of pre-paid tuition in half."
