After UCF organizations successfully jousted each other off an inflatable platform, UCF's Tau Kappa Epsilon surpassed its original goal of raising $1,000 at its Joust for Jude event on Saturday.

The fraternity raised more than $2,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, thanks to all the participants who attended the event to support the cause.

"Joust for Jude was a great and creative way for the UCF Greek community to come together to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital while having fun and being competitive," said Alpha Xi Delta member Becca Hisamoto, a senior event management major. "Helping our community is so crucial and important, and if only one child was affected by our efforts with Joust for Jude, then it was a success."

The sisters of Alpha Xi Delta and Delta Zeta raised the most money for St. Jude, and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority won the jousting competition.

"I had so much fun at this event. Jousting is a lot harder than it looks but it was great to take part in raising money for such a great cause," said Delta Zeta member Erica Flint, a junior hospitality major.

Robert Taylor, TKE's philanthropy chairman, said this is the most money the fraternity has ever raised for a philanthropy.

"Everything worked out in the end and we're really pleased as an organization to have had such a successful event," said Taylor, a sophomore radio-television major.
