Orlando: Police brutality protest today
An Orlando-area protest against police brutality will take place today at 5 p.m.
The "Hands Up Don't Shoot/We Can't Breathe" protest will meet at East Colonial and Magnolia Avenue near Downtown Orlando. The Facebook event asks attendees to bring signs and says it will be a peaceful protest.
The event page also says that no one individual or organization is leading the protest, but it's for everyone who wants to take action.
The protest is following the New York grand jury decision not to indict the officer who put Eric Garner in a chokehold that the medical examiner said killed Garner. In the video that caught officer Daniel Pantaleo using the banned chokehold, Garner is heard to be saying "I can't breathe."
This decision was made barely a week after the Ferguson grand jury decided not to indict officer Darren Wilson in the killing of Michael Brown.
