For students and visitors thinking about making a trip to campus in the next week or so, be aware that UCF will be closing for the upcoming holidays.
The university will officially close up shop on Christmas Day and remain closed until Jan. 4. The school will open back up for official business on Jan. 5. The Student Union and Recreation and Wellness Center will follow the same schedule as the university and closed on these dates.
However, employees such as police and others deemed "essential" will still work during these time periods, said UCF spokesman Gene Kruckemyer.
The UCF bookstores will both close Christmas Day, Thursday and Jan. 1.
Light Up UCF, however, will continue through Jan. 4. On Christmas Day, the event will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and offer carriage rides from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. along with a movie night that will begin at 7 p.m. The Christmas Day movie will a showing of "Elf."
On Thursday, Light Up UCF will run from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and offer carriage rides and a movie night as well. The movie on this night is "Christmas in Connecticut."
On New Year's Eve, Light Up UCF will be open from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on New Year's Day it will be open from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Barnes & Noble bookstore will have varying hours during the holiday break while Light Up UCF is open.
Housing for students will open back up on Jan. 9 and classes will resume on Jan. 12.
