An armed home invasion has been reported at The Marquee apartments near UCF, formerly known as Sterling Central, and one resident has been reported as injured.

According to a UCF alert sent out early Wednesday morning to students, two men forced their way into a residence at the Alafaya Trail apartment complex. The alert states that one suspect was a Hispanic male armed with a knife and the other was a black male armed with a crowbar. Both men are believed to be in their 20s.

OSCO Lt. Matt Butler described the incident as "likely drug related," and that the men are believed to have worked their way into the apartment to demand money from the residents. Butler said one victim, a UCF student, was punched in the head, but has no serious injuries.

Both suspects fled the scene and deputies are still actively investigating.

After the invasion, deputies reported a carjacking near the scene at Mendel Drive and Aristotle Avenue. A suspect is believed to have fled on foot to an area near Lake Lee. It is not confirmed if these two incidents are related.
