Theft, burglaries reported at UCF-area apartment complex
A Sony Playstation 4, a Macbook Air, Beats by Dre headphones and a 32-inch Samsung Smart TV are just a few of the things that were reported stolen from Northgate Lakes Apartment Complex Monday.
Three separate units were burglarized — all three units were believed to have left doors unlocked to the apartments. Suspects were able to swipe nearly $6,000 in items without forcing entry into any of the units. According to a report from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, the estimated value of the stolen items is $5,815.
Sara Barnard, a resident at the complex, left to go to her friend's house at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday and left her bedroom light on and her room door unlocked, according to a report from SCSO. When she returned the next morning, she realized her Macbook Air, Smart TV and Beats by Dre headphones were missing.
Kelly Bourne and Andrew Burdett both alerted sheriff's that each had items stolen as well from another unit within the complex — including their car keys. The keys were later recovered from within the vehicles, however, the following items were reported stolen by Bourne: a Nikon DSLR camera, an 18-to-55 MM lens, a13-inch Macbook Pro, a tan purse from Kohl's and a blue tri-fold wallet, which contained Bourne's IDs, credit card and debit card.
Burdett reported his Playstation 4, games and controllers stolen in addition to his car keys.
As a deputy was responding to the other burglaries at the complex, residents Andrew Berry and Chad Russom told the deputy that they too had somebody enter their apartment overnight. Russom said his car and apartment keys were taken from the dining room table. Russom's car was still in the parking lot and his keys were not recovered.
Berry told the SCSO deputy that his XBox One, a game and a controller were taken while he was out of town for the weekend.
