Update: Campus Crossings property management, Campus Apartments, has confirmed that the deceased was not a resident of the complex and the unit he was found in belonged to his girlfriend. Deputies have identified the man as 22-year-old Colin Jackson.

He is also not a UCF student, Orange County Sheriff's Office public information officer Jeff Williamson confirmed to the Central Florida Future.

Original story: A dead body was found at Campus Crossings Alafaya apartments on Royal Wulff Lane near UCF Wednesday after a report of gunshots being fired.

A resident of the apartment complex said he heard three shots being fired around 6 p.m. He then saw the ambulance drive away but couldn't tell if someone was inside.

Orange County Sheriff Officers received a 911 call at 6:30 p.m. from a woman who said she heard gunshots. On the way to the reported area, officers tried to call her back but she wouldn't pick up. When they got there, the officers knocked door to door until they found blood on a doorstep, said OCSO Lt. Paul Hopkins.

The blood appeared to be fresh, which would suggest the incident started outside. After maintenance let officers inside the unit, deputies found the body of a deceased black male who appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
