Man arrested for throwing girlfriend out of car at UCF
A man who allegedly threw his girlfriend out of a black Nissan at a busy UCF intersection has been arrested in Palm Beach County.
Jose Rodriguez, 30, is currently in Palm Beach County Jail awaiting extradition, UCF PD public information officer Courtney Gilmartin said in an email. Rodriguez is being held on charges of felony battery, petit theft and tampering with a witness.
The victim said she was riding with Rodriguez, the victim's boyfriend, when she informed him that she wanted to break up with him because he had gotten her evicted and also fired from her job. Rodriguez became very upset and shoved the victim out of the moving vehicle, according to the arrest affidavit.
Rodriguez also took the woman's phone so she "can't call for help," the affidavit states.
The victim told UCF PD that this was not the first domestic incident with Rodriguez.
Injuries to the victim included deep cuts, abrasions and a large gash on her chin. She had injuries to her face, hands, arms, chest, knees and feet, an incident report from UCF PD states.
Back in Palm Beach County, Green Acres Police responded to Rodriguez' uncle's house when they were advised that somebody was threatening suicide.
Rodriguez was taken to JFK Hospital and was later arrested by Atlantis PD.
