Hundreds of Central Florida first responders and emergency personnel will practice a series of full-scale emergency preparedness exercises on campus March 12.

The exercises are designed to test the effectiveness of emergency agencies' communications and response times during disasters, according to a press release.

Information gained throughout the day will allow emergency responders to improve and refine the procedures they employ when facing crisis scenarios.

"Working together makes us all perform better when responding to critical situations, and these types of training exercises prepare us for the worst-case scenario," said UCF Police Chief Richard Beary in the release.

The exercises will run from 9 a.m. to 1.p.m. in the northeast part of campus near Memory Mall. Campus activities scheduled for the day will not be impacted, but parts of campus will be closed during the exercises.

Volunteers interested in participating in the exercises may submit an application at http://svy.mk/1yaxpua.
