Two men were shot at a home located on Napiers Circle next to The Marquee apartment complex near UCF Thursday night.
One man was shot in the back and another in the stomach, according to a UCF Alert that was sent around 8:30 p.m. Students were warned to avoid the area.
Orange County Sheriff's Office Lt. Paul Hopkins said the two victims are in stable condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Four children were inside the apartment, but were unharmed in the drive-by shooting.
The victims, ages 21 and 22, are not UCF students. Hopkins said the victims told deputies that they are not willing to press charges, however, OCSO is still pursuing the case.
"Our biggest concern tonight is that two people were shot, but on top of that there were four young kids in that apartment where rounds actually went in and by the grace of God none of those kids were hurt," Hopkins said.
Two residents of The Marquee heard the whole incident from their balcony.
"That was way more shots than I was expecting," said Eric Pitchard, a junior political science major. "This was a good six shots."
Added Aaron Brafford, "They were slow too."
