UCF volunteers needed to pack 250,000 meals for charity
Instead of procrastinating on homework, spend this Sunday doing something that will benefit a good cause.
UCF's Office of Student Involvement is offering one-hour volunteer shifts to pack 250,000 meals for the UCF Global Hunger Project.
The large-scale volunteer event sees OSI teaming up with Feeding Children Everywhere, "a social charity that empowers and mobilizes people to assemble healthy meals for hungry children," according to its website.
The UCF Global Hunger Project kicks off its first shift at 10 a.m. The additional three shifts begin at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Students, alumni and members of the UCF community are all welcome to volunteer and must register prior to the event. Registration and event details can be found at www.feedingchildreneverywhere.com/ucf/.
"We're extremely excited to be able to partner with Feeding Children Everywhere for this impactful event," said OSI Director Michael Preston. "The UCF Global Hunger Project will give students, alumni and community members the opportunity to make a real difference in our community."
In November of last year, the UCF Panhellenic Council's Pack to Attack Hunger event raised $38,000 and 151,200 meals for Feeding Children Everywhere.
