And for the third consecutive year, the winner is …the UCF cyber-warriors.
Members of the Collegiate Cyber Defense Club at UCF took first place in the Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition this week.
UCF also won two specialty awards at the competition on Tuesday and Wednesday: "Best in Business" for correctly completing the largest number of business injects of any team, and "Best in Service" due to their maintenance of the highest overall system up-time of 92 percent.
The team will now prepare to compete in the Raytheon National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition in San Antonio on April 24 to 26. Their competition: nine other regional winners.
As the defending champions, the UCF team will have a busy month. Friday, the cyber-warriors headed to Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Wash. to participate in the computer and software giant's "Build the Shield" competition.
Members of this year's team include: Carlos Beltran, Austin Brogle, Conner Brooks, Kevin Colley, Jason Cooper, Alex Davis, Nathaniel Dennis, Tyler Dever, Kevin DiClemente, Andres Giron, Jonathan Lundstrom and Shane Welch.
