OCSO searching for shooting suspect near UCF
At around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Orange County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting about three miles from campus on Hertha Avenue in a residential neighborhood.
A man in his mid-20s was using drugs with another man, who shot him and fled the scene, said OCSO Lt. Paul Hopkins. Neither men are UCF students and the victim is in stable condition, with gunshot wounds, at Orlando Regional Medical Center. The incident occurred in the backyard of the victim's home.
"Our detectives are on scene. We've got some good leads to find out who this guy is with the gun and get him off the streets," Hopkins said.
Hopkins also said the shooter was known to the victim. OCSO has not released names as of Tuesday night.
