Last week, the Orange County Building Division issued a "stop work" notice on the premises of Insomnia Cookies near UCF. The order has now been removed.
Orange County Government spokeswoman Doreen Overstreet confirmed that the order was "requested by the contractor of record" between the tenant and contractor.
"We did apply and receive our permits and, unfortunately, we were unhappy with the work being done by one of our local contractors," said Megan Bruton, director of marketing for Insomnia Cookies. "It is city policy that we stop work while we replace that contractor, and that is the reason for the posting at the location."
The Plaza on University bakery will resume construction and is expected to open later this summer.
"We look forward to serving warm, delicious cookies to the Orlando community," Bruton said.
Insomnia Cookies is set to be the first Orlando location at Plaza on University next to Spoleto, serving batches of cookies and cookie cakes.
