The John C. Hitt library at UCF was evacuated Tuesday due to reports of smoke seen inside the building.

The UCF Police Department received a call around 1 p.m. regarding yellowish smoke inside the library, said Courtney Gilmartin, public information officer for UCF PD.

Students and faculty were evacuated, and the Seminole County and Orange County fire departments arrived on scene.

UCF PD tweeted around 1:50 p.m. that the source of smoke in the library was identified as a burned-out motor inside a humidifier.
