Students can now expect more 'bang for their buck' with local gas prices falling below $2 on Friday.
Several University Boulevard gas stations, such as RaceTrac, Wawa and Speedway, are charging $1.99 for regular unleaded grade fuel, according to gasbuddy.com.
According to USA Today, gas prices decreased over the Labor Day weekend after an increase in supplies at the BP refinery in Whiting, Indiana.
Prices for average unleaded gas were affected the most, dropping to the lowest they have been since 2004.
According to gasbuddy.com, last year, Orlando's regular unleaded gas averaged at about $3.28, but currently it's $2.14, representing a 35 percent decrease.
Racetrac, Wawa and Speedway are all charging under $3 for midgrade to diesel grade gas.
Nationally, pump prices are expected to drop below $2 by Christmas.
